是日 Earth Day

這張照片,由太空人Bill Anders所拍,攝於1968年的平安夜、阿波羅8號 ( Apollo 8 ) 繞月之時。
 
當他從月球望向地球的一刻,地球在天邊升起,人類的視野瞬間轉移。
 
他如此驚嘆說:「我們一路走來去探索月球,最重要的發現,卻是地球。」(We came all this way to explore the moon and the most important thing is that we discovered the Earth.)
 
這照片後來名為「地出」(Earthrise),它好像在告訴我們,從宇宙遠觀,地球不再是我們腳下予取予攜的寸土,她是一個能自我調節的生命體,而活在其中的你和我,是她其中一部分。生命是如此相融連結。
 
深層生態學家兼佛教學者Joanna Macy跟Chris Johnstone合寫的Active Hope: How to Face the Mess We’re in without Going Crazy (2012),有這麼一句發人心省的說話:
 
「我們不再是這個或那個國家的公民,反而深刻體會到一個更深更廣的集體身份,就如許多原著民傳統歷代相傳的教導所說 - 我們本是地球的一部份。」(No longer just citizens of this country or that, we are discovering a deeper collective identity. As many indigenous traditions have taught for generations, we are part of the Earth.)
 
是日,4月22日,世界地球日。過去,沒有假期的日子,香港人懶理什麼「地球日」,與我何干。但今年的4月22日,是我們三個月來,防疫措施首次解禁後的一天,是時候轉換視點,抬頭望天,低頭感受這份生命彼此的相連。
